ha i see, better get 180 then hadnt i :) i got a 170 the other day but no longer using straps. they dont make as much difference as i thought for max lifts. always thought it was the increased weight that made me lose grip but it was higher reps like when i was repping 140 for 8. couldnt get that many without them. squats are progressing well. the last 6 months were really the first time i trained squat consistantly so i was half expecting decent gains to start with, just hope they continue! just got over the 900 lb total so just need to find 100 more from somewhere :) cheers adsy

PS my 140 for 5 was on a non olympic bar without straps. Dont use em to improve your grip. Straps are for pussies, like my brother down there. :-D

Working out hard core Mr Jones!!

Nice lift at 160, I think I should be able to manage something like that soon after today's performance. I always had lots of troubles with chest related exercises due to having long levers; finally after about 2 years I'm managing to make my chest grow.

I'm not sure if the same thing will work for everyone, but train intense and often with it. I do a heavy weights workout a week on my chest now, and then around 1 or 2 other times i'll knock out around 280 pressups in sets of 20 or 25 and try and leave no more than around 3 minutes between them. Sometimes I collapse on around 16 to 18 but then just keep going as many more times as you can after a small rest of carpet eating.

Also I found cables really helped develop my shoulders and chest!

Keep it up man you are working really hard, eat like a horse and sleep like a dog.
