Cardiovascular exercise ("Cardio") is a very widely used term, often used to describe exercise which raises heart rate / increases oxygen consumption for a prolonged period of time.

Why do Cardio?

  • Overall health, particularly that of the heart
  • Losing or maintaining a healthy weight;
  • Sports Performance
  • GPP (general physical preparedness)
  • Many believe that improved cardiosvascular performance leads to better strength training results

Cardio doesn't necessarily have to be conventional exercise. Gardening, walking to the shops or dancing would all count too! Popular methods of Cardiovascular training include Running, Cycling, Walking, Swimming and Sports.
